E3 2nd Day (13.06) Square Enix and more

E3 Day 2 (13.06) Square Enix and more

So before I start I warn that there is a lot of content. Not necessarily a lot of info so short info on a lot of different games.

This remains very interesting and I hope you will have something to stay with throughout the article! Good reading !

24 Entertainment - Naraka: Bladepoint:

Naraka, the game from studio 24 Entertainment is very promising. The game will be entitled to a global release on August 12 and a beta between June 16 and 22 on PC. It can be pre-ordered today. For the release, a new weapon that was not yet present will be entitled to its arrival, the spear. A new character is also born with the name of Yoto Hime.

This is a 60 player Battle Royal. You can move around in a magnificent setting, on foot or with your grapple. We fight in close combat or at least with period weapons, sword, bow or spear are the weapons used. The fights are super dynamic, the gameplay feels intuitive. The video is full of promise and makes you want to play ASAP. The game will cost € 49.99 (in the video it is noted in $)

Fun and rage will surely be the order of the day with this game!

Xbox and Bethesda

Probably the most anticipated time of day for most people. They will give us as much information as possible, for me, and a lot of work! Let's go!

Xbox is going to turn 20, to celebrate Bethesda and Xbox are going to present us their first baby in total collaboration and obviously this is a total exclusivity for the console.

Starfield will therefore see the light of day. In the 25 years that Bethesda has existed, their evolution has brought them to this game. We are entitled to stunning images of realism and beauty. A spaceship, we see the outside and then the inside. The details are crazy, the voice-over explains the importance we have and that our discoveries have. That was to say that we would have the answer to EVERYTHING. The game looks very elaborate and thoughtful. He promises to be a major Microsoft console dropout.

Stalker 2 Heart of Chernobyl

A shooter visibly set in the city of nuclear drama. The trailer is explosive and promises crazy action. You are entitled to paranormal events, mutants or monsters and "the area" which seems to be the most dangerous place. A man explains that he will defend "the zone" body and soul because it gave him or gave him life. He is therefore ready to sacrifice himself for her. To see but the game promises many exciting hours. The game will be released on Xbox and PC only (if I understood correctly at first. So it could be released on PS4 or 5 afterwards). The release is scheduled for 2022.

We have the right to a small presentation of Back4Blood. It will be released in the fall, the video doesn't feature anything that we haven't seen so far. We can therefore play in coop for up to 4 players, in PvP or PvE. The exact release date is October 12 and available on Game Pass from day one.

Contraband got a very short trailer with little info. Looks promising but we don't know more yet.

Sea of thieves

The super cool info of the evening, this game will be entitled to new features. As a fan of Pirates of the Carribean, we immediately recognize the voice of the famous pirate the iconic character: Jack Sparrow. Sadly we do not know that Johnny Depp himself is reprising his role which would have been great.

How not to introduce the coolest pirate of all in a game of… pirates. We will be entitled to other characters like Davy Jones for example. We cannot wait to see it and in view of what has been presented it fits perfectly.

Yakuza

The games of the main plot (4 games) will be available on Game Pass and we are entitled to a superb trailer to announce it to us. Full of humor and cult moments from the games.

Battlefield 2044

We are entitled to a pre-Alpha video. It shows the use of a grapple, various weapons and vehicles such as planes, tanks or helicopters. What we saw appeared to be PvP (which makes sense at the same time) and promises a lot of playtime to spend on it.

12 minutes

An interactive trhiller for which we received little information but which is very intriguing. The game will be released on August 19 and made its impact during the conference. So we understand that we will be on an investigation and it promises to be exciting.

Doom Eternal

On June 29, we will be able to enjoy the game on the new consoles for free if we have it on the previous generation.

Fallout 76: Steel Region

Extension in which the Brotherhood is the center of attention. It will be necessary to make the choice of duty or justice and decide the fate of the Brotherhood. In 2022, the Expeditions, The Pitt, will be released.

Elder Scrolls Online

Besides the fact that a new expansion has been released, there is the news that the game will be enhanced and available on new Xbox consoles.

Party Animals

The I will see the light of day in 2022. It seems cool and frustrating. The characters are like hard to handle soft toys, the mini-games or visible sequences are reminiscent of Mario Party games. Considering the name of the game, the party is important. So we will be treated to a crazy and fun game!

Hades

The bestselling Hack n 'Slash will be released on August 13 for Xbox consoles.

Somerville

The game that will be released in 2022 promises an intriguing journey. We can first see a family falling asleep in front of the TV. The father, mother, son and dog. We then see a man running to find his family or flee a threat, then we see him with his wife and child running for the same reasons. Between dream and reality one wonders what it is really about. We will know more in the coming months.

We then have the right to a video on the hit game Halo. Master Chief goes on a suicide mission. He is made to understand that he doesn't stand a chance, tells him that there always is. It moves weightlessly through debris and inanimate bodies. He then talks to an AI that isn't Cortana. He doesn't trust her. Cortana should have been erased entirely, but it didn't happen. This changes the mission of Master Chief.

We then see a sequence on the Multiplayer. This one will be free to play! The Halo Infinite Epic Campaign with Multiplayer is planned for release for the holiday season 2021.

Diablo II Resurrected

We already knew that the game was coming but we had the right to a sequence of the game to remind us of this sweet candy that will arrive on September 23.

A plague tale, Requiem

The sequence shown was full of stress and does not provide any additional answers that the game will be released sometime in 2022.

Slime Rancher 2

A vacuum gun, colorful little monsters / pudding and you who collect them. Released in 2022, nothing more to say.

Shredders

A new sliding game. A fun looking snowboarding game. It is slightly reminiscent of the glory of SSX without really doing the same. However the game appears to be well done and should be taken seriously. It should be released during the month of December of this year.

Atomic heart

A very eventful trailer with a song that takes you directly. We can see mutants, killer robots, the main character in the first person view was trying to take electronic and mechanical parts. The game is very intriguing, but we do not have even an approximate date for the release.

Replaced

A game with an assertive graphic style. 2D in pixel but with a lot of detail, so nothing gross. The game is slated for release in 2022. It appears to be an action platformer game. We fight with bare hands, bladed weapons or pistols of all kinds.

Grounded

The game where you are miniaturized, the survival game, the game in a garden, the game that deserves all the enthusiasm there is. An upcoming update titled The shroom and doom update arrives on 06/30. There will be a sizeable addition of content and promises a lot of overtime for players.

Among us

Coming soon. At 15 including 3 impostors, New colors, new tasks. That is all .

A humorous announcement was made regarding The Outer Worlds 2. Nothing is done except the title, that's what the voice-over says. And for many that's already enough.

Flight Simulator

This game is known by its numbers. Huge and ambitious, this game is very popular on PC. Well for Xbox lovers it will land on July 27 with an extension in the fall called Top Gun Maverick.

Forza Horizon 5

They hit hard with that one. The game promises so much fun and time to spend on it. It must also be said that the speakers showed a crazy enthusiasm for the game. Strong exclusivity, this game already keeps all its promises.

The sets taken from reality thanks to photos made in 12 K for the game, the cars as numerous as they are magnificent, the races created and so on. They have integrated a race in Battle Royal mode, mini-games like Pinata where you have to crush a maximum… of Pinatas. A large and beautifully made open world game. The fans will be delighted and those who have been waiting for a good opportunity I think this is it.

Of all the games presented during the conference (30) 90% of them are or will be available as soon as they are released on the Game Pass. This shows how important this subscription is to Xbox.

Redfall

A game with magic, with weapons, with co-op mode and vampires, which also do magic. It makes for a crazy, action-packed shooter. We recognize the co-op codes through this trailer and the design looks very good. We should be entitled to it for the summer of 2022.

Announcement we weren't expecting. Announcement that proves that at Xbox we have humor. A mini fridge will be released in the form of an Xbox Series X. This one can hold six or eight cans. It will go on sale for the 2021 holidays.

Let’s come to the Square Enix announcements.

Guardians of the Galaxy

Yes, you read that right. A new collaboration between the studio and Marvel. They've made a game that frankly looks a lot cooler than Avengers.

The character design is superb and contrasts a bit with what we know little about movies, while remaining in the same vein anyway. The same characters are naturally present, as far as the guardians go, that is obvious. We even had a nice moment of gameplay.

The game is beautiful, even fascinating, and the gameplay is well thought out. It's about being the leader of the group and making the right choices. We play Star-Lord only, the leader of the group. Through our choices we can see the reactions of each other. The choices you make directly affect the mood and future actions of your friends. We must therefore be careful not to submit to our own choices.

For combat, it's in total freedom and in groups. What is done well, we can command the other characters as if they were in fact attacks or magic spells that we cast. So it's intuitive and quick. We choose the character and his attack. And hop then we continue by guiding Star-Lord.

The game will already be released on October 26 for the Xbox and Playstation consoles.

Horrible moment for me because of a huge emotional lift. Final Fantasy I to VI are out on mobile and Steam. So initially I was happy, because we saw the logos of the different games, then their release on Steam and mobile devastated me. Because, for my part, that doesn't interest me at all. I remain hopeful they will be released on Switch.

Legend of Mana

The game will be entitled to release on June 24 on Switch, PS4 and Steam

Marvel avenger

The game will be entitled to new content. First and most important, War for Wakanda. Brand new missions, new locations, new hero with Black Panther and new villains. There will also be the replayable Random Boss and other new missions.

Hitman Sniper The Shadows

No info except a few small images and released in 2021 or nothing.

Nier Reincarnation and FF VII First Soldier on Mobile this year

Babylon's Fall

An action adventure (at first glance) possible co-op and fantasy world. Nervous and controlled fights. There will likely be different classes, weapons, armor, magic and so on. Specifically, this is a hack n slash action. The game looks genuinely interesting and promises to be fun both solo and with friends. The goal of the development team's studio is to continuously produce content after release to keep the game alive for as long as possible. To see if the promise can be kept. A closed-beta is open for registrations!

Life is strange Remastered

The game will be released on September 30. A godsend for those who haven't played it yet and who are intrigued.

Life is strange True color

A new adventure with Alex as the protagonist. Girl with the power of empathy. She feels exactly the emotions of those around her. She will have to face this situation and use it so that she can find out why and how her brother died. She will even be able to see the world according to the emotion of the person in front of her, which can even be dangerous for her own life. The game will be released on September 10 and we will be able to purchase a package with the first part which will then be available on September 30.

Stranger of Paradise: A Final Fantasy Story

The main protagonist just keeps repeating that he wants to eliminate Chaos (it sounds a bit like Final Fantasy I all of that). He describes it as insatiable hunger. Nervous just like the very bloody and violent combat mode. The Final Fantasy side will surely be found in the story and the cutscenes, but not in this character or the fights. Now we have to wait to know what the game will bring us.

We then have the right to a video presenting some games that have already been released or will be released in the future. A mishmash of sequences.

Warner Bros Games ’Back 4 Blood

The game has been shown several times and we are entitled to Swarm Mode. A mode in PvE. Once as humans but also as a mutant zombie. We can evolve zombies like humans by playing continuously. The game is released on October 12 this year, pre-orders are possible and a beta will take place from August 5. That happiness.

PC Gaming Show

Make way for one of the longest conferences. My recollection tells me that this is often the longest conference or one of E3. And this year is no different from what I remember.

We are entitled to Naraka Bladepoint again, but of course nothing different than earlier.

Dodgeball academia

Dodgeball is cool, video games are cool too. The mixture should at least be satisfactory. And in view of the video it is. We don't have a date but it should be out soon.

Rawmen

A wacky platform game where you are a chef who has to go through levels. We don't understand much but the game design and the seen mode look nice. To see in future news.

Dying Light 2

We are entitled to a little more of the story of the main character. We are not told how it is that he is so good at the course and strong to be able to survive so well, but we are given some answers anyway. You can just hear his voice explaining that he was undergoing clinical trials with his sister Mia. Then there was a major attack or concern and he was separated from her. As the game unfolds he learns that he might find her somehow. The game will be released on December 7 this year. Pre-orders are already possible.

Humankind

You create your civilization and you have to survive or expand your civilization. Beta available now by signing up on Twitch if I understand correctly.

Orcs must die 3

This is a tower defence game. The levels are relatively large, the enemies numerous. We are entitled to a multitude of traps, catapults and other weapons to defend ourselves. In addition, we are active as a hero because we can use turrets by ourselves or attack orcs directly. The game releases July 23 for consoles and Steam.

Vampire: The Masquerade

A young mother plays hide and seek with her daughter. Girl we don't see, then she comes back to (sad) reality. She searches for her daughter and finds herself in a sad and dangerous world. We are not entitled to more details although it appears that the woman is a vampire.

Gigabash

4-player fights in every man for himself mode. We embody giant fighters in the middle of cities or landscapes that undergo the combat of these titans. A release planned for PS4 and PC.

Lemnis Gate

Humanity is dying and we have to find a way to survive. Space could be a nice option. The real innovation is in the gameplay. This is a strategy-based, turn-based first-person shooter. Just that. Each round lasts 25 seconds during which we do what we want. An open Beta will take place in July and the game is released on August 3.

Next space rebels

You can build your own rocket from an ugly cardboard model to a near life-size rocket.

Wartales

You play as a group of mercenaries in a country ravaged by war and disease. Combat in tactical mode, a fantastic medieval story. The game will be released on Steam but without knowing the date at the moment.

Ixion

A long monologue by a man explaining that space can offer humans survival because planet earth no longer offers this option. An expedition is set up, at the end we notice an explosion in the sky and the moon is seriously damaged. Release scheduled for 2022.

FAR: Changing Tides

No game info. It just shows a kid on a makeshift boat. The graphics inspire poetry and appeasement. To see what the game will want to offer in the future.

Lakeburg legacy

Creating your own legend is the goal of this game. To have a completed family tree too. The links between the characters must therefore be managed by the player.

Killing floor

Another space shooter due to arrive in June. Unfortunately without further information.

Silt

A diver who can use fish to be able to move or unblock complex situations. A 2D graphic style reminiscent of the Tim Burton universe for my taste. A game that will be available on Steam but without a specific date for the moment.

Helllo neighbor 2

Nothing new from the first of the name if this is not the place where the game takes place.

Jurassik World Evolution 2

The voices of some film actors like Jeff Goldblum will be there, just that it's a pleasure. As for the game, the content will be much more complete than the first.

More dinosaurs, more options. The game will be released again in 2021, so it will be just a question of when exactly it is released.

Gabe Newell (CEO of Valve) took the floor to give news of the Steam platform. There will be the Steam Next Fest giving access via Steam to demos of games that will be released.

Soulstice

A game that should be released next year not before. Solo fights have been shown. What you can say is that it is nervous and bloody as a mode of combat.

A small Hardware point now with:

Impulse Neuro-Controller. A glove that senses movement and even anticipates your desire for movement so it can be even faster when it comes time to press the mouse.

CSL DD Wheel Base. A base to use for a racing wheel for car games. With this base we will have more realism.

Onexplayer. A portable video game console of very high quality and performance. No date or price revealed at the moment.

New Asus PG3 screen ... priced at 3000 € would be one of the most efficient if not the most efficient on the market.

In 2022 Warhammer's Chaos Gate will be released. Without more info or pictures.

Pioneer

A game that takes place in Russia, maybe even in Chernobyl. This is a shooter with monsters or mutants, threats of all kinds. The atmosphere you experience during the video freezes your blood.

EVE Online

Some info given on their Academy and different classes so to speak, like the Industrialist or Explorer.

Lumberhill

Cut trees then use the wood to create bridges or other infrastructure to move forward. Here is the pitch of the game. Funny graphics and the game seems dynamic.

A multitude of games are then presented. Various graphic genres but with a tendency for pixel art and 2D strangely. These games can be fun, but it doesn't look like there is much success waiting for them. We may be entitled to one or the other surprise, but no more.

The show therefore ends with some game cutscenes. Whether on PC or consoles, we notice that developers are working hard to stand out from the crowd and create crazy worlds for us.

We can expect more beautiful things in the months to come and even starting tomorrow with the 3rd day of E3 which I will be following for myself but also for you dear readers!

See you tomorrow !

E3 4th day (15.06) last day, Nintendo and more

E3 Day 4 and last day (15.06) Nintendo and more

We had to be able to expect heavy. For me it was not a great E3 from Nintendo. Honestly, I only attended the main lecture. The Treehouse they make is all about gameplay and it's hard to write anything on the subject without the pictures to back it up. So it wouldn't do anything for our loyal readers.

So let's get down to business and talk about what the Japanese firm had to offer during their conference.

Small intro and we realize that the Switch is already 5 years old. Then we quickly start the festivities.

I didn't know what to think. The lifeless Ganondorf is seen being carried, then thrown off a cliff. Pretty macabre for the firm and for the franchise it is about. It was a little intro dark enough to introduce Kazuia Mishima. Yes the iconic character of Tekken joins the cast of Super Smash Bros Ultimate. I find it pretty cool and it's a real collaboration with the Tekken franchise. So we'll probably get more characters (hopefully they don't add too many either). We get a bit of humor with the same cinematic, but instead of Ganondorf we have Kirby, who naturally doesn't fall because the bugger flies so well.

We move on to a new announcement and this time it's about informing us that Life is strange and Life is strange True colors will also be available on the console on the same dates as planned for the other consoles. Except for the Remaster of the first one that will come during the year.

Super Monkey Ball must be played by everyone at least once. This game is super nice, funny, accessible to all and even annoying at times. Well the franchise is celebrating its 20th anniversary, SMB Banana Mania will see the light of day on October 5th. A collection of games from the franchise with a graphic overhaul to make everything more aesthetic.

In the same vein, Mario Party will have the right to its All Star. The 100 best mini-games of the franchise condensed into a single game. All this for October 29 of this year. In short, a good idea for the successful franchise.

Finally something new for Metroid, yes Metroid Dread will be released on October 8th this year. Good news and a graphic idea that I don't find bad. We stay in the classic 2D that we know from the franchise but with the beauty, fluidity and possible mechanics that we can have with today's technologies. A real plus and a real nostalgic reminder. This game can really be the end of the year hit if it is as good as the cutscene suggests.

Just Dance 2022 will naturally see the light of day on the Big N console, it seems logical. We will be able to move on our Switch with this franchise which also exists and has lasted for a very long time.

Dragon Ball Z Kakarot with the Freezer, Cell, Majin Boo saga arrives on September 24 this year. A game that has received a good global reception will finally be able to be played on the Nintendo console.

Then a little more info on the future game of Mario Golf. The so-called Super Rush, arrives June 25, so soon and pre-orders are possible. We were able to see the different ways of playing. This with the standard mode, speed (race without paying attention to who shoots to finish first), battle (in an arena in gladiator golf mode), Adventure too. Future updates are golden and already planned and some will even be free.

We had the right to Monster Hunter Stories 2, which we have already seen so we will not come back to the subject.

Wario is back with the next WarioWare. Always so crazy and funny. This game can be enjoyed by everyone on September 10th. We got to see some mini-games and frankly it was fun. I invite everyone to go and get a feel for the game.

Then came a probable future console hit. Shin Megami Tensei V. A girl in Tokyo, with a totally banal life ends up in a post-apocalyptic Tokyo. Demons and angels wage war there and we find ourselves in the middle of it all. The fights are very well animated but are turn based. The goal is to evolve and make your way in this devastated Tokyo, but not alone. Indeed we can recruit demons. These will accompany you and will be faithful to you. You will be able to evolve them, merge them to create new powerful demons and thus have a team in your image. It looks really well done and might surprise more than one.

We then come to Fatal Frame: Maiden of Black Water. An adventure and horror game. Equipped with a camera one must try to survive the onslaught of the ghosts and relive the story time and time again from the different points of view of each of the protagonists.

We are then told about Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope, we have already seen it during the Ubisoft conference so nothing new on that side.

Adventure Wars, the tactical war game will have the right to its return. The 1 and 2 will be available on the console on December 3. Pre-orders are available today.

Hyrule Warriors is releasing an Expansion Pack and will be available in waves, premiering June 18.

Then we have a little update on the Zelda Skyward Sword remake. We had the right to see the way we can play. We can play either in a classic way or with the movement options. Joycons in hand we can then play while moving, an option that seems logical and fun to me, therefore a good omen for everyone.

A new small Game and Watch Special Zelda console will be released. With the games, Zelda, Zelda 2, Links Awakening and the traditional Game and Watch but in which we play Link and not the base character.

A new video opens and this is a new trailer for Zelda Breath of the Wild, the sequel. It's not called 2 but they just noted that this is the sequel to BotW. It features bizarre villains, Zelda falling, and Hyrule Castle begin to levitate due to a mysterious and ominous force.

The Treehouse begins shortly after, as I noted, this one was not followed.

Bandai Namco will then take over the hostilities. Nothing very impacting to see sincerely. At least not for me. They talked about House of Ashes, a horror shooter game. We are entitled to the fantastic and the paranormal. There will be a lot of deaths to live during the game and everything has been written to be able to scare the player. The game comes out at a perfect time given its style because we will have the right to get it from October 22.

After that there wasn't anything really interesting.

In conclusion I find that the more the hours and days passed, the less interesting it was. Square Enix has brought about a rebound with some nice surprises but I sincerely remain unsatisfied. I expected better and it must be said that this year, Ubisoft, Xbox and Bethesda will have been above the rest compared to the rest without having been great.

An E3 which gave pleasure with some nice news but frankly nothing very transcendent.

I wish you happy reading and see you next time!

Controller for Nintendo Switch Online

I will soberly talk about that Nintendos exclusive offer for their subscribers. I'm kidding, I am a fanboy so I won't be subtle and not show my love for NINTENDO.

With that introduction that gives the guidline we will now talk about that offer. To be honest, the offer is not as good as the one of Nintendos concurrence. This is a fact. It is not comparable for the moment. I receive the newsletter for Nintendo and Playstation offers but not for Xbox as I have none. Nintendo was able to distinguish itself and took advantage of their story. They found the good path to take, to distinguish themselves from the concurrence. We won't even talk about the price difference which is a bit more than a third of PS Plus price. You will have some % on some prices, but nothing really consequent. So Nintendo had to find something to attract their gamer community.

They have one advantage in comparison with others, their catalogue for nostalgics. You may play NES and SNES games at any time. To push the offer to the limit they decided to make controllers for NES and SNES to use with their last console.

 manette nes

We will now check the NES controller

Those controllers can be loaded like the Joycon, connected directly to the Switch or in a charger dedicated. The controllers have the same connection as the Joycon have. The controllers can only be used for games in the NES catalogue. Obviousely, the controllers do not have enough buttons nor joysticks.

The controllers are really well made, the quality of the material is great and the design is really faithful to the classic controller. Honestely the controllers are beautiful and I am happy having bought the controllers. Great design, batteries lasting long enough and playing those old games with those controllers is a real pleasure.

It was a great idea and they managed to create an exclusive offer with those controllers. A gamer that has subscribed to the Online subscription may buy maximum two pairs of NES controllers. One pair costs 59,99 €. The price is a bit high even if they have no defect, but their usage is (logically) limited and therefore has a price a bit high that shouldn't have exceeded 45 €.

manette snes

Lets check the SNES controller

Those controllers are not reloaded the same way as the model before. I think it is due to the R and L buttons. The design wouldn't have been respected if they had the same connection as the Joycon or the NES controller. So they even thought about it and asked themselves the right questions. Those controllers are loaded with a USB C cable.

I loved taking the controllers in my hand, play Mario Kart or Donkey Kong Country was a real pleasure. Again, the design is respected, the material used is excellent and it is pleasant to have it in your hands. For those controllers to, there was no defect to be seen. The batteries are good enough and the fun is there.

The offer is another in that case, you buy one controller et not a pair. The price is 29,99 € and you may buy a maximum of four controllers. The same number of controllers than for the NES controllers. The price is the same (difference of 0,01 €) and still to high for me. In that case too we shouldn't exceed 45 € for a pair. The reason is the same, the controllers are (logically) limited to be only used for SNES games.

I directly took two controllers so I may play with someone for games playable with a second player.

The delivery was pretty quick as I got them within less then a month. When I check now (01/01/2021), the NES controllers should be delivered within two weeks. But the SNES controllers aren't available for the moment. What a chance I had to buy them in November!

Finally, the controllers are to expensive for someone that is interested in the NES and SNES games but that have no nostalgia for it or players that won't play often enough those games. Due to the limitation of their usage possibility, the price stays high. For those who never had the chance to have those consoles or don't have them anymore, those who are really nostalgic and love to come back in childhood will love having them and maybe won't find the price to high.

I am happy to have them, play old games with those controllers on my 55 inch TV is exciting. Being in bed with my wife while she's reading a book and I would play with those controllers, it's amusing and I remember a time when I got up early on sunday morning with my brother. We would sneak into our gaming room and play those old games in front of an old TV.

Nintendo managed again to be different then other console brands, it may be frustrating some times, but we are always blown by their inovations and their knowing how to manage their classics. May it last a long time.

Franchises I love : Pokemon

Franchises I love

Pokemon

POKEMON! Catch them all ! Ah so many memories. So many great moments spent. And to think that I am writing in the past tense when as soon as I finish the article I will continue to play Pokémon Shield on my Switch. I've been playing this franchise for so long. It’s the first franchise I’ve ever played on my own.

As you may know, this is not the top 1 in my ranking of favorite franchises. It’s still the first franchise I’ve actually played. I had the blue version and my brother the red one. From the start my brother knew some mechanics like being able to swap small monsters.

So he and I were careful to send the missing Pokémon to the other's version's Pokédex. Also, we were careful that some could only evolve while being exchanged. For example Machoke or Graveler or Haunter.

Last detail and not the least, in these versions as in most afterwards, it was impossible to have the other starting pokemon. There was Bulbasaur, Charmander and Squirtle. What we were doing was simple. We were moving forward in the game's story until we could trade. Then we gave the other the starting companion we had chosen. And we would do it all over again until we had it all twice. Yeah we were trying hard.

In short, it was excellent.

Then when the 2nd generation came I was really happy. I had the Silver version and my brother Gold.

The starting Pokémon were super cool, especially the fire one for my taste, Cyndaquil was THE Pokémon of this generation for me. Most impressive was that we also had to go to the island of the first generation to beat the arenas and the league! So there was twice the work than in the first game!

I remember the train to take, it was fantastic! But I almost forget the yellow version! With my brother we had this version too! Pikachu following you like in the anime. You can talk to him to see how happy he is. And you had all three starting Pokémon without having to resort to trading! You receive them if Pikachu is happy to the maximum. It was great to do, otherwise the game was the same as the first generation naturally.

With Silver and Gold we had a lot of fun. There were great things to do, and the new Pokémon were looking good. It was well done but there was nothing really new after all. Then there was the Crystal version, crazy innovation, a battery to be able to remember the time and so the game was on real time. So you had / could tell the difference between playing at night and playing by day. What good memories.

On the other hand, when generation three came, Sapphire and Ruby. I was so excited. I will always remember this! We were in the south of France on vacation. We had the Game Boy Advance. My parents had gone shopping. I was on the little terrace with my grandparents and there we get the game in hand. I must have said "I can't believe it" at least ten times.

I have to say, I wasn't too impressed with the starter Pokémon. They didn’t stand out for me. I still think I remember Sceptile's crazy speed. Otherwise nothing new under the sun for the starting Pokémon. On the other hand Tarsal, Terhal and Draby marked me! These Pokémon, if I can get them in every Pokémon game I play, I catch them. I find them awesome!

However, the story was super cool. The bad guys too. What also stood out to me was the new HMs (Hidden Machines). Those are abilities (attacks) learned by Pokémon. You could buy abilities and you MUST find the special ones called HM. Without these you could not move forward. Like Fly, Surf, Strength or Cut. You had to get them or else you were stuck.

In Sapphire / Ruby, there was additional Waterfall and Dive. There were places where you could use it to get underwater and find new Pokémon. What crazy innovation, it was exhilarating.

Then there was Emerald for this generation, which I missed yes. Too bad but without too many regrets anyway.

Then there was Pokémon Diamond and Pearl. A less memorable story than its predecessor and fewer Pokémon that I liked. I played and enjoyed it but it was hard to do better or as well as Sapphire and Ruby in my eyes. So less exciting.

What I remember deeply is Lucario. He's iconic and everyone loves him. No wonder I love him too but loved this super cool little monster. Otherwise it was a bit bland in my opinion.

A little refreshment with the Heartgold and Soulsilver versions. You will understand, they have remade Gold and Silver with the new possibilities offered by 2010. I did not buy it for myself because I did not see the point ... and still not today.

The next generation, the 5th now is with White and Black. The starting choices are earlier cool in design and there's the appearance of Roggenrola which is clearly too cool in final evolution. What's also pretty cool is that there weren't any other Pokémon available other than this generation. You had to receive the National Pokédex in order to obtain other Pokémon from previous generations. This was no longer the case in Black and White 2. Pokémon of the 5th and other generations are available from the start of the adventure. The map, the champions and those kinds of details change a bit, but nothing much better.

Who says Pokémon X and Y says: Greninja I love you. The coolest of his generation and surely the most iconic. Big novelty for this game, the Mega-Gems. This allows the Mega-Evolution, Pokémon then called Mega-Pokémon.

This evolution is not permanent but allows during the fight to clearly gain the upper hand and see your favorite Pokémon take a super cool or "Mega" form. Capturing a Pokémon (finally) gives experience points to Pokémon on its team, there are wild hordes of Pokémon, so we end up at 1 to 5.

More novelties also in terms of internet connection with the game and therefore new features.

Obviously there is also the full 3D view that it is on the Nintendo 3DS that the game is released. This naturally brings a more graphical advantage even if we do not use the 3D option. Too bad though that apart from Amphinobi, no monster will have marked my mind ...

A remaster of Ruby and Sapphire with the names Ruby Omega and Sapphire Alpha. All on 3DS, they also made a special version in 2DS with pretty consoles I must say. This one was given to me with the metal box. It was naturally cool to get back into that story. But nothing more you have to be sincere. The pleasure was still there.

Then comes Sun and Moon. So I was disappointed for the first time. I didn't really like the mechanics, the story and the way of going. I didn't hang on too much. On the other hand, Incineroar is really cool. It didn't impress me so much that I didn't buy Ultra-Sun / Ultra-Moon.

I was even afraid that I would no longer appreciate this franchise. I respect the idea and the attempt at innovation, however for me it was a clear stop. And then what had to happen happened.

Pokémon Let’s Go, Pikachu / Eevee!

Small slap of nostalgia. On the other hand, I am happy that afterwards they did not stay on this idea. It was great for me especially since I had never touched or even downloaded Pokémon Go!

I don't see any point in it especially since I don't have time for that stuff. I liked this game and go back to that first region and do what we had to do there again. It was quite exciting, but we also notice that it was "important" to facilitate everything. Some things were done more naturally and it felt when you played almost all of the games in the franchise.

It was still a pleasure and what was really great, the flight. When you fly you are on top of the map with your Pokémon and see other Pokémon to catch. It's still super interesting.

With the latter, I am right in it. And I have fun like a kid. Between old-fashioned mechanics and new things, we are right in the middle of what I unwittingly wanted for a game in this franchise.

Sword and Shield, this game is really very good. The history, the fights, the Dynamax, the camping and the cooking. These things make the game epic. I miss this need for CS but it seems that time is over.

Gaming remains one of my highlights over the past two years. I am happy. There are also some notable Pokémon like Corviknight, Orbeetle or Coalossal. Everything is more to me in this game and I'm glad I did not miss the call. On the other hand, we also notice a certain ease in achieving to the end of the game.

I can't wait to see the future. First with the Pearl and Diamond Remaster. To see if that can convince me and patch me up with this generation. Like I said, it wasn't the game that struck me the most. And then what to say about what will happen next: Pokémon Legends: Arceus.

This game which takes up the distant past of the Pokémon universe. We will have to complete the first Pokédex. We're in the Sinnoh region and we're going to have a maybe more sophisticated game system of watching and waiting to catch a little monster. We can choose between combat and the Pokémon Go way to catch a Pokémon.

A game full of promise, full of expectation and above all that changes what we have known so far. To see if the turn this game takes will be a major turning point for the franchise or if it is just a side game. I sincerely favor the first option, especially given, the means they have to make something great.

The past has been bright, the present beautiful, and the future looks great. What happiness with this franchise for which my feelings have nevertheless pitched at times.

Long live Nintendo, Long live Pokémon and long live video games!

Video games subscription

We will discuss the offers that the different manufacturers can offer, not those available in cloud mode only like Stadia, Shadow or other.

Here I will only discuss what the major console manufacturers offer. We also focus on gaming, games. No other options available with these subscriptions.

We will start with the Xbox offer, the Game Pass. There are a lot of good games available and a catalog that is pretty well stocked. With the start of the Beta for PCs and iOS mobile devices, this offering will grow even further.

The offer made by the Game Passe still offers a fairly huge catalog of games and especially very well classified games. There are even games that are or will be available the day they are released for sale. One more argument. With the future possibility of being able to play in cloud mode, on Smartphone and on PC / Laptop, this will only go further in the available options.

The main competitor being Sony we will move on to their offer. PS Now is very ambitious. The catalog is extensive but there are not only good games, it must be said. However there are games ranging from PS2 to PS4. More and more blockbusters are joining the catalog and this is only to the delight of fans. In addition there is already the possibility of playing via a computer. Via a simple application, with a PS4 controller, a subscription and you can enjoy it quietly.

Let's not forget that Playstation still has the PS Plus. This subscription is nevertheless also very interesting. First of all it is necessary if you want to play online, it is necessarily the less cool side. However, you get free games. And not just any game, for example I have benefited from games like Fall Guys which I find super nice or The Last of Us Remaster for free. Every month you get free games as you read by these examples, good games are available! In addition, you have exclusive discounts that defy all price competition.

The two offers can be compared without worry and here too it goes shoulder to shoulder. Why does the Game Pass have a better rating? And certainly due to the fact that the games from the Xbox studio are available from day one via Game Pass. This is a huge advantage. On the quality of the entire catalog, the Game Pass is ahead, Sony has played on the quantity but is clearly starting to expand its catalog in terms of quality.

And then we have Nintendo. They always take everyone in the back by always doing something very different from what everyone else is doing.

No Pass or anything else that is clearly close to the competition. On the other hand, I admit to having fallen completely under the spell of their offer.

An offer defying any price level. And then it will be pretty much all. There are cool games in Battle Royal mode like Tetris 99, exclusive offers but above all we pull on the sensitive chord of nostalgia.

A catalog well supplied with NES and SNES games. The hammer blow is the possibility of having old-fashioned controllers for the Nintendo Switch to play these old games. And we want more!

When will the N64 games, the controllers that go with them and who knows, maybe the games of the different Game Boy with controllers representing the bottom of these portable consoles?

It would be super pleasing anyway. On the other hand, it does not seem at all that it is planned to compete with Xbox and PS for a cloud system. On the other hand, they have created their own amusement park ...

However, the future seems promised with beautiful things concerning the three firms and it is certain that everyone will find themselves there without too much concern.

The future will tell us what we will be entitled to shortly.
