It was announced on November 1, 2019 at Blizzcon and is themed around the realm of the dead from the Warcraft universe, the Shadowlands.
The story is that with one simple act of destruction from Sylvanas Windrunner opened the way to the afterlife. Azeroth's staunchest defenders have been drawn into ravenous darkness. An ancient force of death threatens to break its bonds and destroy reality.
The main new features of this eighth expansion are:
- Level cap changed from 120 to 60 (which was the original limit of the game). This is the first expansion where the maximum level decreases. Players of level 120 will have their level reduced to 50.
- A new zone, the Shadowlands, divided into five new regions, each occupied by a congregation which will be able to bring its help and its powers to the player who chooses to join it:
- The Bastion, by the Kyrians
- Sylvarden, by the nocturnal Fae
- Revendreth, by the Venthyrs
- Maldraxxus, by the Necro-lords
- L'Antre, by no congregation
- A new evolving dungeon, Torghast, the tower of the Damned which is located in the heart of the Den
There will be a Shadowlands Collector's Edition coming out that will contain various goodies including:
- an artbook
- a mouse pad
- 4 pins representing the dark land congregations
- a code to access the digital soundtrack of Shadowlands
- early access to Death Knights (Allied races & Pandaren)
- sesame level 120
- Enchanted Eternal Wyrm mount
- transmogrification of the clothes of the eternal traveler
- 30 days of playing time
- Anima Wyrmelin mascot
- hearthstone of the traveler

If you are a big fan of the world and medieval-fantasy history of Warcraft, every corner of which is filled with inspiration from Dungeons and Dragons and also to continue adventures with the character that we have created and lived a lot of serious or funny adventures. I strongly advise you to try this new extension when it is released.
