You will find here a small interview proposed to the members of the committee in order to get to know them better.

Why be part of this non-profit organization?

  • Because I like to share the same passion with my friends. And if we can promote this passion in the form of an ASBL (non-profit organization), it is even better.

What is your role in the non-profit organization?

  • I am the income / outcome manager and I write articles for our website.

If you could choose, would you have another role within the non-profit organization?

  • No, I am satisfied with the role I have.

Which message to send, by this non-profit organization, is the most important for you?

  • Video games are a passion that brings together people of all categories and whose primary goal is to make people happy.

What do you hope for the future of the non-profit organization?

  • A nice community and a committee that remains healthy and cooperative.

More personally now,

When did you fall into video games?

  • Around the age of 6-7 when I had an accident and to keep the time in the hospital going, my parents bought me my first Game Boy and that was where it all started.

What do you find most enjoyable in video games?

  • I love games that have a great story to tell and I love games that require the skill to complete a task.

Risky question: Retro or New?

  • New

What is your favourite franchise / game?

  • I love the Uncharted series and I was a veteran in the very first Call of Duty where I invested hours and hours in Multiplayer mode with my old clan.

If a retro game were to have the right to a Remaster, which game would you choose? (choose a game that has not had a Remaster)

  • Starfox Adventures which was released on Gamecube! I have finished this game several times.

What is your favorite console (excluding PC)?

  • PS5

You have the opportunity to put yourself in the shoes of a video game producer, present your game to us. Title, graphic style, game style (RPG, FPS, etc.), short summary:

  • The playstyle would be Adventure with elements of an RPG like the evolution of his character. As I am fascinated by the history itself and especially the era of the world war, the game is set in the era of the 2nd world war. There are a lot of FPS playing in this era, but I miss any adventure games or RPG in this style.
  • I will choose a fairly realistic graphic style with a third character camera.
  • Since I'm not too good at inventing names, the title would simply be “WWII”.

Interview of committee members

You will find here a small interview proposed to the members of the committee in order to get to know them better.

Why be part of this non-profit organisation?

  • First, I decided to join Brotherhood of the red lion, because I found the idea, to promote every aspect of gaming and to build up a community, of this non-profit organisation more than awesome. Furthermore, I wanted to support my friend Alex (President), who initialised the project.
  • Last but not least, in my opinion gaming still does not get the attention as it should be, gaming is a serious hobby and it connects people.

What is your role in the non-profit organization?

  • My main role is treasurer, I ensure that every cent is trackable and that we have at all moments a good overview on our finances. My second role is E-sport manager. I am always in contact with our E-sport members and check what their needs are. Furthermore, I have weekly meetings with the team to be up to date.
  • In addition, I also stream regularly on our Twitch channel and I am also making pictures to promote our streams on social media.
  • I am also the scout of our organisation, in terms of streamers. I am always checking on the social media to see if there are any new Luxemburgish streamers, who want to join our crew.
  • And last but not least, I write some articles from time to time for our webpage.
  • So, as you can see, I am a jack for all trades.

If you could choose, would you have another role within the non-profit organization?

  • Absolutely not, because I love doing all those things and I like how our community is growing.

Which message to send, by this non-profit organization, is the most important for you?

  • For me the most important message is that the fun is always in focus and that we want to build a community with a friendly and family-like atmosphere.

What do you hope for the future of the non-profit organization?

  • For our future, I hope that we are growing and that other people see what a fun and relaxed organisation we are, so that they join us. The big dream is clearly to be one of the biggest community in Luxemburg.

More personally now,

When did you fall into video games?

  • I started video gaming, with 10 years.

What do you find most enjoyable in video games?

  • For me videogames are the escape from reality into a multiverse of fantastic opportunities. When I am playing my games I can relax and forget the worries of my day.
  • In addition, you can meet new people through video games, which shows that games are not so antisocial.

Risky question: Retro or New?

  • Why not both? XD

What is your favourite franchise / game?

  • Definitely Mario games.

If a retro game were to have the right to a Remaster, which game would you choose? (choose a game that has not had a Remaster)

  • Metroid Prime would be a nice remake.

What is your favorite console (excluding PC)?

  • PS5 :D

You have the opportunity to put yourself in the shoes of a video game producer, present your game to us. Title, graphic style, game style (RPG, FPS, etc.), short summary:

  • It would be an MMORPG totally in the fantasy world of the dwarves. With all the different aspects of mining, brewing beer, fighting, jewellery etc. The gameplay would be like Guildwars 1 and the graphic style similar, but with the standards of nowadays. But in which you can also build your own house beneath the mountain and do your own mining.

Interview of committee members

You will find here a small interview proposed to the members of the committee in order to get to know them better.

Why be part of this non-profit organization?

  • I joined because I think, the idea of creating a community for gamers is awesome and gaming organisations like ours should be boosted in Luxembourg

What is your role in the non-profit organization?

  • I am responsible for our social media. I publish the daily Posts on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.

If you could choose, would you have another role within the non-profit organization?

  • I don’t know, but I like the work I am doing right now!

Which message to send, by this non-profit organization, is the most important for you?

  • For me the most important message to send is that we are all enjoying games and that we want to create a family like community where everybody helps each other.

What do you hope for the future of the non-profit organization?

  • I hope that our organisation keeps on growing. I wish that it becomes a great success and that we are known in Luxembourg.

More personally now,

When did you fall into video games?

  • It started when I was like 6. My brother had a GameCube and I was always watching and I think that’s when I started to enjoy games.

What do you find most enjoyable in video games?

  • I’m a big Dark Souls Fan, which means I like challenging games. I enjoy playing challenging games as much as I rage at them.

Risky question: Retro or New?

  • Maybe that’s because I am much younger than the other Members, but I am definitely on the “News” Side of gaming. I am always surprised by what the creators are able to do, doesn’t matter if it’s an awesome story or new graphics.  New games were always the path of progress.

What is your favourite franchise / game?

  • My favourite franchise is definitely the Dark Souls Trilogy for now. Before Dark Souls I was always hyped for playing The Legend of Zelda and I still am.

If a retro game were to have the right to a Remaster, which game would you choose? (choose a game that has not had a Remaster)

  • I would definitely choose Majin and the forsaken Kingdom. I played that game when I was like 8 or 9. I played it on PS3. I loved the game and I would definitely buy it when it would get remastered.

What is your favorite console (excluding PC)?

  • No comment. xD I do like the Nintendo Switch a lot, but nothing would surpass gaming on a PC. (A better developed VR-Experience might change that., for example Full Body suits.)

You have the opportunity to put yourself in the shoes of a video game producer, present your game to us. Title, graphic style, game style (RPG, FPS, etc.), short summary:

  • The title would be something like “Do or Die!” The graphic style would be like Dark Souls 3, dark, lots of effects, etc.  It would definitely be a Soul’s like game. It would play in our modern Society where the Nuclear Holocaust cause various mutation on animals, who are attacking the Human race. As the protagonist of the story you could choose your starting layout and class, like in the other souls games. You would have to fight those Mutants with guns, swords, etc. The objective is to gather all resources needed to create an antidote that cleanses the World from those mutations. You’ll have to face challenging Boss FIghts in order to get your ressources.

BOTRL played it - Diablo II Resurrected

Hello dear friends. I had the (modestly) great idea to give you some impressions of our gamers about new games they played. Naturally, Diablo II came to mind. As fans, as gamers and geeks, some of the members of BOTRL answered that simple question: How fun was it to play it?

What did they feel playing it again? How did the game make it through time? Which caterpillar is the most beautiful of them all, is it the hickory horned devil or the tomato hornworm? Yes, that last question has nothing to do with Diablo, so?

We will begin with Lee’s opinion:

Finally, do we have the game and Blizzard made the good decision to listen to their community with D2R!

The hype was real for me, as soon as the announcement was made, I was only waiting for it!

Now we have the game! The details and the remastered graphics overall is very well done. The fact that the “G” key we switch to the old graphics is amazing. Eye-cancer for sure but the feeling is great. With the “F” key we can zoom in and see more beautifully done details.

The gameplay is the same as the Resurrected is only a graphic remaster and nothing has been changed to the story or game mechanics. The game is the grandfather of Hack’n Slash and the remaster is a real tribute to the game.

The need to play is the same as many years ago and the urge is real to make a big LAN party as back in the time! Play for 48 hours straight with the best buddies would just be epic.

I felt great playing it again, the first hours discovering the game again brought me back in time. If you compare it to D3, I say D2 has far better mechanics, they are better suited for the genre. You must pay attention how to skill your character, how you let his specs evolve, which hasn’t to be done in D3 for example. The runes and gems system is great and there to you have to pay attention what you equip to have the most evolved equipment. This was missing in D3.

The complexity missing in games makes D2R even better. It is something we were familiar with back in the time.

In my opinion the tomato hornworm is the most beautiful.

Jo’s opinion:

Since I played D3, I wanted to play D2R, the moment I knew it would come out. BUT it’s not easy as I thought it would be. In D3 you are guided through everything, in D2 you’re on your own. I only played it for 2 hours, but I am still tuned to know how the story continues. In terms of Spell Knowledge and Rune Knowledge, I have no clue. So let’s see how things will go on for me.

Tough question. To me the tomato hornworm is the most beautiful.

Patrick’s opinion:

My hope was, D2R had to give me the same feelings as the original did in 2000, which was confirmed as soon as I started the game. The music of the main menu, the lobby and the load screen were all promises for a trip in the past. After a few steps and monsters killed I had the feeling as I had back in the time! This is D2!

As a D2 (original) freak, it feels like home, the menus, key binds, everything was the same as before. That with a new graphic refit makes it amazing. The little that was added like the zoom function or other “quality of life” functions lets still have the same feelings as in 2000.

I am really positive about the game and am happy to play it again. Even if life doesn’t allow it anymore to play as much as before, it feels great to make new memories with a game you played a long time ago.

By the way. The tomato hornworm is the most beautiful of caterpillars.

Alex’s opinion:

The firs word that comes to mind is NOSTALGIA. D2 was the first game in which I grinded and farmed first. When I began D2R and its new graphics, I felt like I was home, in my little room and my 17-inch old screen, clicking as fast as I can to take the loot. The feelings are incredible, calculation how to best max up my character, power level my friends and dismember people in PvP. The game is beautiful but has all its old-school style.

It is a real pleasure to play that game on twitch for you all. When I think about it, I was 16 the first time I played it. Damn I get old.

Angry Sunny’s opinion:

For a newbie, it is good, nothing really exciting but easy to play. What was not good for me, players that knew the game took you with them without being able to understand what was going on. The best part was being able to chill with friends, you do not have to think to much and you can play it alone to get all information you want about the story.

I don't love caterpillars. The tomato hornworm is cute but the hickory horned devil looks cooler.

Bluemotion's opinion:

In my opinion the game is well done. The gameplay and the quest system are really good.

However, for newbies it is quite difficult to step in. After only two hours of gameplay is it hard for me to tell more but I look forward to play more.

No infos on the caterpillar question...

In conclusion, the game may be for everyone. The best way to play it would be to be between friends, especially for newbies so they may be helped. And the tomato hornworm is the most beautiful caterpillar, and that is a lion’s word.
